Donation Guidelines for Books and Other Materials
Dormont Public Library is always happy to accept book donations. Not all books will make it into the collection, however, and there are certain types of books that we cannot accept, including:
- Textbooks
- Magazines
- Computer or travel books significantly out of date
- Damaged or defaced books
- Encyclopedias – unless they are the complete set, and less than two years old
If you would like to make a large book donation, please notify us beforehand so that we can make room for the books while we evaluate them.
Memorials and Dedications
If you wish to make a donation to the Dormont Public Library Memorial Fund or have a book placed in the collection in honor of a person, please contact us at the front desk or send us a letter by mail. We will send cards to you and the honoree (or their family, if the honoree is deceased), and a special bookplate will be placed in the book. If you are donating to the Memorial Fund, you may specify what type of book you would like us to purchase with your contribution.
