September 1-September 30

At the Dormont Public Library, it’s our favorite time of the year! The leaves start falling, children go back to school, and Love Your Library month starts again! Every September, we celebrate the importance of libraries across Allegheny County and encourage residents and patrons to make a gift to their local library.

For 89 years, the Dormont Public Library has provided a space for readers of all ages to learn, imagine, and create. This year the Library has hosted an array of programming including Stories in the Park with the Borough of Dormont, an Arts and Garden Tour, and our annual Summer Reading Program “Color Our World.”
As we look forward to our 90th anniversary next year, we’re excited to offer even more opportunities for patrons, including families like Todd and his daughter Lylah. Lylah shared, “The library is a place where you can go to explore different worlds without leaving.” With a plethora of resources like books, CDs, DVDs, and audiobooks, the Dormont Public Library offers many ways to explore and learn. All of which is possible because of community members like you that support the library.

Throughout the month of September, your financial contribution can make an even greater impact: donations up to $500 receive a percentage match courtesy of the Jack Buncher Foundation. You may have already received a letter with a donation envelope in the mail; use that envelope for your check donation, click the “Donate” button below, or donate in person at Dormont Library.
Thank you for supporting the Dormont Public Library and helping our community explore and learn!

“Our family has checked out books, engaged in the educational programs, reading sessions, crafts, and participated in all of the wonderful things that the library has to offer. The Dormont Library has been a crucial hub for our community and our family!”
Todd

Raffle Basket Fundraiser

Our raffle baskets last year were extremely popular, so we’re bringing them back this year! We’ll have over a dozen themed baskets with something for everyone.

We’re also raffling off a one-of-a-kind heirloom quilt; this raffle will continue through the fall to the end of November, but all tickets purchased in September will qualify for partial matching funds through the Love Your Library program.

Family Fun Fall Festival: Sunday, Sep. 28, 11-2

Kids and families are invited to celebrate Love Your Library month with an afternoon of fun and carnival-style games at the library!

Play games to win tickets, and trade tickets for fun prizes. No kids will go home empty-handed!
