Curious about how to taste wine, what wines to order with your dinner when dining out, or to learn about different wine regions and cooking with wine?

Come join us at Dormont Library for a four-course training seminar taught by a member of our staff who is a professional chef with wine experience in the hospitality industry.

All classes are by registration only.
You must be 21 years of age as of October 21 and provide proof of age to attend the classes. All proceeds benefit the Dormont Library.

Registration opens September 1, 2026. You may register for each session individually at a $45 fee, or register for all four sessions in advance to receive a discounted price of $165 total.

Payment is due at the time of registration and may be made by cash, check, or card.
Payments must be received by September 30, 2026.

Space is limited. If you wish to cancel your registration and receive a refund of your registration fees, you must cancel by October 7, 2026. No refunds can be granted after that date.

Course 1: Introduction to the Basics
October 21, 2026, 6:30-7:30 pm

In this class you will learn the fundamentals of wine -making, proper glassware, how to open a bottle of wine, the major grape varietals, and of course tasting wine!

Course 2: Celebration Time
October 28, 2026, 6:30-7:30 pm

We will be learning how to safely open sparkling bottles, the difference in Sparkling wines and Champagne, what grapes are used and the growing regions. We will be tasting three styles of Sparkling wine and some food samples to complement the wines.

Course 3: The World of Wine
November 4, 2026, 6:30-7:30 pm

Overall view of the world’s wine regions, including California, Oregon, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Germany. We will be tasting wine from some of the regions and serve some tasting snacks.

Course 4: Food and Wine Pairing Made Easy
November 11, 2026, 6:30-7:30 pm

Learn how to pair food and wine, cook with wine, plan food and wine courses for a dinner party or entertaining for the holidays. We will be tasting wine and food samples to complement the wines.
