Now Hiring – Part-Time – Assistant Children’s Librarian/Desk Clerk/Lab Attendant

The pay is commensurate with ability for 20 to 24 hours per week.
Applicants must be available in the daylight, evening and 2 to 3 Saturdays per month.
There may be opportunities for additional hours as needed.
Job Duties for the Assistant Children’s Librarian
We are looking for an energized, focused individual that loves working with children from birth to 12th grade. You must be able to multitask, be creative, have excellent time management skills, and be confident in communicating with the public and other business and community representatives as needed.
Your duties will include making story times on a weekly basis, in addition to Saturday story time. You will also be doing STEM programming and overseeing our LEGO club and Doggie story time monthly. You will be working with our Teen Advisory Council to create ideas with them and for them monthly and any outreach as needed.
In addition to this, you will be responsible for implementing an adult art/craft class monthly.
All programming will be coordinated with the Director.
This position requires an associate’s degree and prior experience with children, preferably in a library setting.
Job Duties for the Desk Clerk/Computer Lab Attendant
Assist patrons with library resources and how to use them.
Be able to multi-task with the demands of servicing the public.
Answer phone calls in addition to assisting patrons with their requests.
Ability to operate office equipment, including phones, copy and fax machines, and computers.
Check items in and out, place holds for patrons and maintain organization of holds.
Maintain an organized work environment that is shared by co-workers.
Assist patrons on computers to research items or assist them with multiple computer tasks.
Shelve books and shelf read collections as needed.
Assist with donations and the maintenance and organization of the book sale.
Work effectively and interact with co-workers and patrons.
Job Requirements
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend and lift up to 30 pounds.
- May be asked to move wheeled book trucks and lift materials short distances, and any other tasks as needed.
- Applicants must bring an enthusiastic attitude to working with a wide range of patrons to assist them with requests.
- Exemplary customer service skills are strongly recommended.
- Previous volunteer work experience with the public or in a library are preferred.
- The position will remain open until it is filled.
