Dormont Library’s Summer Reading Program for 2019 will run from June 15 through August 3. Full details of the program are coming soon, but for right now, check out the programs we’ve lined up!

Summer Reading Family Storytime

Enjoy stories and a themed craft. Saturday Storytime is held on the second and fourth Saturday of each month. All ages are welcome. Saturday Storytimes have a different theme from weekday Storytimes in the same week. For Summer Reading 2019, we have special space-themed stories and crafts lined up. The theme for June 22 is “The Sun.”

Astronomers estimate there are over one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe. Create your own and add to that number with this crafts program. Make it spiral, elliptical, or any kind of fantastic shapes from your own imagination. This program is for elementary and middle school students.

Since the dawn of time, people have looked into the night sky and found shapes in the stars. Many people even believe these shapes, called constellations, can exert a mysterious influence over fate and destiny. Design your own constellation, and decide if it has any mysterious powers for yourself in this craft program. This program is recommended for elementary and middle school students.

Wrap up the Summer Reading Program with an Alien Aloha Dress-up Party and a showing of “Lilo and Stitch”! All ages and all inhabitants of other planets are welcome. This is also the final day to record books for your Summer Reading Log and earn prizes, so don’t miss out!
