In celebration of Black History Month, Dormont Public Library and Go Explore Create Art Studio have partnered together to create this unique STEAM project to honor two amazing men.

Benjamin Banneker and Charles Henry Turner would have never known each other during their lifetimes, but their contributions to the sciences are tremendous. Banneker was an accomplished inventor and astronomer in the 1700s while Turner discovered so many of the biological complexities of the insect world around us throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.

What problem do you see in this world that could use some insect innovation? Grab everything you can think of and begin this fantastic STEAM project where you will be combining Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math to create a one of a kind sculpture straight from your imagination.

Make sure to send a photo or video of your completed project to us at dormontprogramming@einetwork.net, or send it to us on Facebook or Twitter. Everyone who submits a photo or video of a project will be added to a raffle to win a gift card at the end of the STEAM Program in May.

Please submit your completed project to us by March 6. 2021.
