Dear Neighbors,

Beginning in early December, the library will be undergoing major plumbing repairs, which will result in some disruptions to our service. Please see the calendar below for information about the days we will be open, closed but with staff present, or completely closed. We thank you for your patience and understanding while the work is in progress.

Our last day of regular walk-in library service before repairs begin will be Thursday, December 8, and we recommend that all patrons with items on hold pick them up on or before that date.

The outside drop box will not be available during construction. If the drop box is not outside, do not leave items at the front door; no one will be present to pick them up.

If you have any questions about this schedule, please contact us at 412-531-8754 or email dormont@dormontlibrary.org. On the dates marked in gray (December 9-10, 29-31, and January 4-10), staff will be available by telephone at the library. On the dates marked in red (December 12-28, January 3), staff will not be in the library but will be responding to messages by email, voicemail, or social media accounts.

Please note that this schedule may be subject to change depending on the availability of contractors and the time taken to complete the work. Changes to the schedule will be posted on our website and social media accounts and will be sent to newsletter subscribers.

Curbside Service and Remote Printing

  • On the dates marked in gray on the calendar (December 9-10, 29-31, and January 4-10), staff will be available for curbside service and remote printing service only. Please call 412-531-8754 or knock on the door to speak with a staff member. Public PCs will not be available.
  • If you would like us to print a document for you, please email it to print@dormontlibrary.org and let us know when you would like to pick it up.
  • If you would like to have a document scanned or faxed, please knock or call and drop it off with a staff member. For your privacy, please do not drop off documents unattended at the front door.
  • Wi-Fi service is not expected to be interrupted during the repairs. However, portions of the parking lot may be inaccessible.

Changes to Item Availability

  • If you need to check out a book or other item that is part of Dormont Library’s collection, please call the staff at 412-531-8754 or ask at the front door. We can retrieve and check out most items for you on our curbside pickup days.
  • Due to storage considerations, some categories of children’s items will not be available to borrow until the work has been completed and we have fully re-opened. Ask staff for details.
  • From December 4 through 29, Dormont Library’s items will not appear on the online catalog, and Dormont Library cannot be selected as a pickup location for held items.
  • While we are fully closed, if it is necessary to return your items, please return them to any of the county libraries.

Changes to Programming

  • The DPL Book Group will meet on its regular date on Wednesday, December 21. December’s book will be available for pickup through Saturday, December 10. We expect to have January’s title, The Good Sister by Sally Hepworth, available by Monday, December 4. Copies will also be available the first week of January.
  • Other programs will be suspended beginning on December 9 and will resume when the library has fully re-opened.

Fundraisers

  • If you would like to purchase a copy of the Enjoy Coupon Book or Three Rivers Savings Card as a holiday gift, make sure you do so on or before December 8!
  • The Enjoy Coupon Book will be available for purchase through the end of January 2023.
