Free Admission for Museums and Historic Sites

Thanks to our partnership with the Heinz Center Affiliates Program and other Allegheny County libraries, we are offering FREE ADMISSION for up to six children and two adults to a number of museums and historical sites around Pittsburgh! Plus, each pass comes with virtual access to educational information, itinerary ideas, and other fun content.

Passes will be available to borrow after Memorial Day.

Our kits this year include:

  • Heinz History Center (pictured; includes admission to Fort Pitt Museum and Meadowcroft Rockshelter)
  • Historic Fort Steuben
  • Old Economy Village
  • Bradford House and Whiskey Rebellion Center
  • Fort Ligonier
  • Railroaders Museum & Horseshoe Curve

At least one member of the family or group borrowing an Experience Kit should have a current Allegheny County library card to participate. The admission pass for each destination will be checked out on that library card account.

Experience Kit passes are checked out for one week. Kits are available on a first-come first-served basis, or you can make a reservation for the week you would like to borrow the kit. To reserve a week, please call us at 412-531-8754 or email dormont@dormontlibrary.org.

Any family who visits three Experience Kit locations before October 31, 2023 qualifies to enter a special raffle; visit this Google Forms link for more information and to complete the raffle form.

All passes will continue to be available through the end of 2023. Heinz History Center passes are available to circulate year-round.
