Library patrons with personal computers, smartphones, iPads, or e-readers have access to a variety of downloadable books and audiobooks from ACLA partners.


eBooks and eAudiobooks are available through partnership with OverDrive. Visit the Allegheny County Libraries OverDrive page to browse or search for eBooks and eAudiobooks.The OverDrive Media Console software is required to view or listen to OverDrive content. Most Windows and Mac computers are compatible with the OverDrive Media Console, as well as iOS and Android mobile devices.

OverDrive eBooks are compatible with select models of e-reader devices. Due to digital rights management, some eBooks may not be available for Amazon’s Kindle, and many OverDrive eAudiobooks may not be compatible with iPod or other portable media players.


Additional audiobooks are available through OneClickDigital (formerly NetLibrary).Nearly 3000 titles are available in the OneClick library, with more added quarterly.

There are no limits on the number of patrons who may have a given item checked out at a time. Patrons may set their own checkout time, from 1 to 21 days, and may renew a OneClick item up to 3 times.

OneClick audiobooks are compatible with Macs, PCs, and iOS devices. PC users should download the OneClick Media Manager from the OneClick website; Mac and iOS users can search the App Store for the OneClick apps for their computer or device.
